Skill selection and resets

Guide editor: GAME NOTE

Progression, practical choices and current mode rules.

Reading the trees

  • Distinguish weapon-specific skills from shared abilities. Check prerequisite links, level requirements, points and gear-granted effects separately; a move supplied by equipment is not necessarily permanently learned.

  • Use the English skill names to match the menu. These are progression directions rather than a late-game tree to copy at the start. The encyclopedia adds combo guidance as weapon skills unlock.

Prerequisites and Mastery progression →

Dual Wield: short strings and pursuit

  • Practise stopping a basic string safely before extending it with Blazing Assault. Inspect Whirlwind and pursuit options as your available points grow.

  • Use gap-closing moves during exploration. Against bosses, learn retaliation windows before committing to long strings; invest first in moves you can land consistently.

Greatsword: charging and guard follow-ups

  • Learn the charged-attack direction through Savage Momentum and Mortal Blow. Add Armor Breaker and Heart Piercer once you can read the enemy attacks that create their openings.

  • Practise the held input connecting Combat Cadence and Savage Momentum in a safe area. A short opening does not necessarily allow a full charge.

Spear: Moonlight and Spirit flow

  • Learn Moonlight first, then consider Full Moon and Trance as their prerequisites become available. Confirm a hit before committing Spirit to a follow-up.

  • Since May 27, 2025, Trance: Spirit requires Trance to hit before the follow-up Spirit-skill cost reduction applies. Its refund runs over eight seconds and does not stack.

  • Assault: Descent can be used once per exhausted target; the exhaustion timer pauses during the move. Do not plan repeated uses during the same exhaustion.

Resets and presets

  • Skill points can be reset, so test moves before keeping a setup. Attribute redistribution is a separate system from resetting weapon skills.

  • Store up to ten skill presets. Save a reliable configuration before testing another weapon so the effects of each change remain clear.

  • Hardcore restricts attribute changes, Phantom Form and assistance. Normal progression advice does not apply unchanged.
