Progression, practical choices and current mode rules.
Four separate checks
Character attributes, Mastery, prerequisite nodes and set-granted moves are different requirements. Attribute levels do not necessarily unlock a skill, and a set-granted move does not unlock its whole branch.
After the Chapter 2 skill-tree introduction, choose your current weapon. For a locked node, check Mastery and prerequisites before points. For an unusable learned skill, check activation conditions and Skill Management.

Early story progression
Combat advances Mastery, while early caps also depend on story progress. If progress stops, check the next main mission. These are Mastery progression milestones, not attribute-level requirements.
| Mastery milestone | Main mission / boss |
|---|---|
| 12 | Snow Mountain Trial / Blade Phantom |
| 16 | Forgotten Temple / Viper |
| 20 | First Act of Revenge / Volbaino |
| 24 | Strange Stench / Aratra |
| 28 | Traitor Revealed / Rangkus |
| 32 | Veiled Knives / Maluca |
Point allocation
Unlock moves that change your available actions, then improve frequently used multi-rank skills, and finally add set-specific or conditional bonuses. Change one group at a time.
Target ranks in the build pages are editorial learning targets, not skill-point costs or full prerequisite budgets. Character level alone does not guarantee access to an endgame tree.
Start with a reliable damage option and a defensive follow-up before adding a second expensive Spirit skill. Retain points if a skill slot or practical use is not yet available.
Equip and activate learned moves
Assign learned Spirit skills to available input slots and check the activation state of passives and derived moves. Disable an unwanted conflicting action in Skill Management before practising.
Skills can be reset. Save a reliable preset before testing a different weapon, and distinguish skill resets from attribute resets using a Primeval Regression Orb.
The encyclopedia adds combo guidance as skills unlock. The June 2025 updates improved navigation between it and the skill tree; confirm inputs there before applying the practical sequences here.
