Progression, practical choices and current mode rules.
At the start: choose this journey’s goals
There are 57 achievements, plus a separate PlayStation platinum trophy. Plan difficulty, assistance and the ending before working through mission and progression objectives.
To combine the difficult journey with no assistance, start on Expert, retain it and avoid golden Spirits of Advocacy for this journey. This is the more demanding combat route.
For separate goals, learn the campaign on a comfortable difficulty and assign Expert or no-assistance completion to another journey. Since April 22, 2025, Standing Alone checks the current playthrough, so earlier summons do not invalidate a later clean journey.
Check whether your platform unlocked both ordinary and Expert completion achievements. Do not assume both always unlock together, or lower difficulty before finishing your Expert goal.
Early game: clear simple actions naturally
Complete combat tutorials for consumables, skills, the Javelin, Brutal Attacks and drop attacks. Recover lost Lacrima after a natural death rather than repeatedly dying just for the objective.
Once the Crevice opens, fill equipment slots, buy and sell with the merchant and extract Lacrima through Oksana. Extraction and dismantling are separate actions.
After Blacksmith’s Heirloom, check crafting and dismantling. After Silent Temple, check trait changes and augmentation. Owning a scroll is not the same as crafting equipment.
After Stormpass’ Phantom of Combat, actually equip a phantom ability. Distinguish that ability from the golden assistance summon outside a boss arena.
During the story: pair missions with collection
After main missions, return to the Crevice and check new NPC dialogue and bonus missions. The guide covers sixteen main missions and twenty-four bonus missions.
The targets are 100 Soulstones, 44 Jarlings and fifteen Ozma story records. Track them by mission rather than hoping repeated gear farming will complete collection objectives.
Meet Digor in the temple, cave, mountains, theatre and capital. Complete his dialogue and use his character page to check the encounters.
Some bonus missions require earlier missions or disc fragments. Check Transcendental Sword, Charon’s Chains and The Vow before the finale; full achievement completion still requires every bonus mission.

Before the palace dialogue: verify the ending
Before Daphrona’s ending choice in the Imperial Palace, verify all fifteen golden records and related bonus missions. Check both Black Moon records in Why Have You Forsaken Us and the hidden area in Transcendental Sword.
For THE FIRST BERSERKER, choose the response meaning that you must know the truth. Follow the wording rather than an option position. If it is unavailable, stop and check requirements.
Collecting missing items after a boss is different from choosing an ending branch. Do not assume replaying the final boss freely changes a choice already made in this journey.
Soulstones and Jarlings have their own achievements; collecting them all is not an additional true-ending requirement.
After the ending: cleanup before NG+
Inspect the platform’s remaining achievements and separate missing missions, pickups, actions and goals requiring another journey.
Finish accessible collection and bonus-mission cleanup before starting New Game+. A New Path is tied to beginning the next journey, which restarts mission progression.
If you used assistance this journey, assign Standing Alone to the next one and avoid all assistance summons there. This objective does not require a new character solely because of an earlier journey’s summons.
The base achievement list does not require Ultimate Challenge or Hardcore completion. Treat those as additional personal goals.
Outdated instructions to avoid
“A summon permanently blocks Standing Alone and forces a new save” is obsolete: the April 22, 2025 update changed the check to the current journey.
“Finish all bonus missions in one uninterrupted session” was a workaround for launch-era achievement tracking. The April update fixed lost multi-condition progress after restarting; it is not a current normal-play requirement.
Difficulty names changed in June 2025: the former Easy became Normal, and the former Normal became Expert. Match the current Expert menu entry when planning The Expert’s Journey.
