Dual Wield build: Fallen Guardian and short strings

Guide editor: GAME NOTE

GAME NOTE CLASSIC · GUIDE LIBRARYThe First Berserker: Khazan

Progression, practical choices and current mode rules.

Equipment and stage

  • This campaign setup uses Fallen Guardian to develop from short strings into Ruthless. It is not an instruction to farm six pieces at the start.

  • Target the set’s Dual Wield weapon, headgear, top, gauntlets, pants and footwear. While pieces are missing, prioritize weapon level and stamina for defense.

  • The scroll is in Night of Tragedy. Guardian’s Hoof is associated with Phraugh Village and Wankaul’s Quarters. Follow the linked recipe and bonus guide.

  • Use the resistance accessories needed for the current boss, then stamina recovery or frequently used attack bonuses. Start with Keshta, or try Conrad for a dodge-focused style.

Skill priorities

  • Unlock usable basic derivatives before improving Howling Blade. Extend Ruthless only when stamina permits. Ranks are recommended targets and do not bypass prerequisites.

  • An early core can reserve one rank each for Outrage, Massive Blow, Deftness and Aggressive Action; check any extra prerequisites and Mastery gates in the current menu.

Practical sequences

  • Short opening: approach or use a dodge attack, then a Howling Blade segment you can finish safely. Stop when the enemy recovers instead of forcing a complete string.

  • Long opening: confirm stagger or exhaustion before repeated Ruthless inputs. Leave time for the Brutal Attack and stamina to disengage.

  • Equip Phantom: Sword Dance in a usable slot and activate it from a safe opening. Its buff does not make every string safe to extend.

When to adjust

  • If Ruthless is repeatedly interrupted, shorten it. Fallen Guardian’s damage reduction is conditional and timed, not permission to tank every attack.

  • When your main Spirit skill changes, verify that the set still benefits what you use rather than keeping it solely because all pieces match.

Before saving the preset

  • Test a short sequence and a long-opening sequence against the same enemy on the same difficulty. Track safe recovery rather than only peak damage.

  • Check active set thresholds, weight, resistance accessories, phantom ability and skill activation before saving. Ultimate Challenge provides its own equipment, so this campaign loadout does not transfer directly.
